Each Guten Co. piece is handcrafted by Sarah Sauer in the downtown San Antonio ceramics studio. Every item is formed from raw clay, allowing it to then slowly dry for several days (or weeks!) before it undergoes two kiln firings. After its final firing, the piece is thoughtfully packed and sent out, ready to become a treasured modern heirloom.

Guten Co. ceramics are designed for everyday use - all our tableware is both dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe, and all glazes are lead-free. We recommend reviewing the care details listed on each product page, as certain items may include specific guidance. For larger planters and serving pieces, hand washing is recommended since it is gentler and helps reduce the risk of damage.

Orders are shipped within 2-3 business days and UPS Ground service is typically 1-5 business days of transit. International shipping can take up to two weeks in transit. Days in transit may shift if the order is placed during a public holiday or on a weekend.

Guten Co. products are made in small batches so sometimes products will be listed as sold-out. Feel free to contact us if you would like to purchase a sold out item and usually we are able to make the item especially for you and ship within about 2 weeks.

Yes, we love to help with your gifting! Let us know at checkout that your order is for someone special and we will ship it without pricing listed on the receipt. Also if you leave a note at checkout, we will write your message out for you on a letterpress card and include it in your gift order!

Since clay is an organic material and every item is formed by hand, minor differences in dimensions, form, surface texture, and glaze may occur. These variations are a natural result of the making process and highlight the uniqueness of each piece rather than indicating a defect. We see these subtle shifts as part of what gives the work its personality and human touch.
